The national doubles coaching director was in the London vicinity not on a holiday, rather on a big assignment with the national contingent for the on-going All-England.

The two-time All-England men’s doubles champion also gave his take on the champions' prediction for each category.

Rexy specifically pointed out the chances of national women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah.

“They have been here a few times, with their best result at the All-England being a quarter-final. They are looking forward to playing this year. They really want to do something different and much better than previous years,” he said.

The world number two Malaysians will be in action on Wednesday as they face a crunch opening tie against Japanese scratch pair Arisa Igarashi-Chiharu Shida.

The Malaysian contingent will be hoping for a much-improved performance on day two of the Super 1000 event after witnessing several exits on Tuesday.

Reigning mixed doubles world champions Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were the biggest high-profile pair to lose in the first round.

But there was some saving grace as national men’s singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao battled valiantly to overcome Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto 21-17, 13-21, 21-18 and book his berth in the second round.
