The Malaysia men's rugby sevens team had no answer for South Africa as they lost 46-0 in their opening Pool B match at the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Friday.

Angelo Davids led the scoring for the Blitzboks, the hosts of the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens in September, with three tries and opened the floodgates as early as the first minute at the Coventry Stadium.

The Hibiscus, whose best performance throughout their Commonwealth Games involvement was finishing 11th in 1998, next face Scotland, who handed a 41-0 thrashing to Tonga, later on the same day.

Malaysia conclude their Pool B campaign against Tonga on Saturday before proceeding to the classification stage.
