Malaysian men’s doubles star Aaron Chia hosted a gala wedding on Malaysia Day that saw the country’s top shuttlers including Soh Wooi Yik, Lee Chong Wei, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah all in attendance.
Chia, who ended Malaysia’s 45-year wait for a world champion when he and Soh Wooi Yik delivered gold at the world meet in Japan last month, finally got around to hosting the long delayed wedding reception with wife Goh Mui Kee.
Chia-Soh had been busy with back-to-back events since May, leaving them with barely any time for personal matters.
But it was all worth it as they were crowned men’s doubles world champions, and for Chia this came as a double celebration.
Looking dapper in a cream coloured suit with black pants, Chia walked down the aisle with his wife accompanied by the couple’s two young daughters.
Other notable guests included Ng Tze Yong, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin, Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai, Rexy Mainaky, and divers Ooi Tze Liang, Ng Yan Yee and diving coach Leong Mun Yee.
Lee, who wore a dark blue suit, was also a man in demand with many posing for photographs with the badminton icon.
In a Malaysia Day posting, Lee also revealed that he and Wong Mew Choo are expecting their third child.
“Please pray for Mew Choo’s smooth pregnancy,” he requested.
