ISTAF World Cup to return after five-year absence
The International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) are ready to host its second-ever World Cup this November.
It was last held in Kuala Lumpur in 2011 with Thailand winning both men's and women's events in the inaugural edition, beating Malaysia and Vietnam respectively.
It had not been held in subsequent years due to several technical and sponsorship problems, but ISTAF secretary-general Abdul Halim Kader assured everything has been sorted out to ensure the tournament's success this year.
"At first, it was expected to be held in Goa, India, but we received support from the All India Sports Council to organise it in Hyderabad," he said.
"After India, the Takraw Association of Thailand will take over and host the doubles and quadrant events in conjunction with the King's Cup this year."
He also expressed his hope of seeing at least 20 men's and 12 women's teams taking part at the tournament.
So far only Malaysia and Singapore have confirmed their participation.
