Siti Zalina Ahmad continued to defy her age as the experienced lawn bowler reached the women's singles semi-finals of the 2022 Commonwealth Games on Sunday.

The 43-year-old overcame Nooroa Mataio of the Cook Islands, winning 21-14 at the Victoria Park.

She had qualified for the knockout stage with a perfect group stage record, including an impressive 21-20 comeback win over New Zealand's Katelyn Inch.

The Malaysian next faces Guernsey's Lucy Beere on Monday for her chance to reach the final again, while the other semi-final match sees Australian international Ellen Ryan take on Norfolk Island's Shae Wilson.

The three-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist last tasted women's singles success in 2006 in Melbourne.

Besides women's singles, Siti would be in action in the women's pairs event alongside Emma Saroji as they aim to defend their gold medal won in Gold Coast four years ago.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's lawn bowls challenge in the men's pairs, men's triples and women's fours already faltered.
