Azizulhasni's second-placed finish was an improvement from his Rio 2016 performance in the same event when he won bronze.
It was Malaysia's second and final medal in Tokyo after men's doubles shuttler Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik bagged bronze in the badminton event.
